Creation Research Program

What Is AP’s Creation Research Program?

For decades, AP has been defending the Christian Faith against naturalistic evolutionary attacks (making the “negative” case for Creation). The goal of AP’s CRP branch is to make the “positive” case for the biblical Creation narrative using Scripture, cutting-edge fieldwork, and the latest peer-reviewed, published research of other qualified scientists.

Naturalistic (i.e., godless) evolutionary ideas (e.g., Darwinian evolution and the Big Bang Theory) have been used to great effect in our country by critics of Christianity for over a century now. Roughly 25% of the country now accepts purely naturalistic explanations for the origin of man: no God involved. More recently, naturalistic scientists have expanded their attack strategy to include specifically attacking the claims of Scripture (as they pertain to science), not merely promoting godless science. [The 2014 Bill Nye-Ken Ham Debate serves as an example of this strategy.]

Scripture mandates that Christians “always be ready to give a defense” to those opposed to the truth (1 Peter 3:15). Many of the attacks on truth today come in the form of arguments from science and, as highlighted above, those attacks have been extremely effective in crumbling the faith of the country—especially the faith of youth. Like Paul’s preaching on Mars’ Hill (Acts 17), the starting point in modern evangelism for millions today will not be with Scripture, since many do not even believe in God, much less His Word. Instead, Christians must be able to first reason with others about Creation, the existence of the God of the Bible, and the reliability of Scripture using the extra-biblical evidence that God has provided for our study.

Further, the Bible enjoins upon humanity the task of “subduing” and having “dominion” over the Earth (Genesis 1:28), studying the “things that are made” (Romans 1:20), and the great works that God has worked throughout history (Psalm 111:2), like the Flood (2 Peter 3:3-6). Using modern terminology, Scripture indicates that, to one extent or another, humans can and should learn about God through engaging in science.

With these principles in mind, in 2014 Apologetics Press launched the Creation Research Program. Since its inception, the objective has been to engage in research and education that makes the positive case for Creation, not merely defends against attacks on Creation. In addition to our usual office research, the added objective of this new branch is to pursue and promote hands-on Creation science study beyond the walls of an office. The AP Creation Research Program does so through two “hands”: Research and Education.
