Joe Deweese

Dr. Joe Deweese received his B.S. in Biochemistry from Freed-Hardeman University and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. His research interests include characterizing the mechanism of anti-cancer agents and enzymes that function on DNA. He holds professional membership in several scientific organizations, and has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in various scientific journals and volumes. Dr. Deweese taught biochemistry and pharmacology for 12 years in a college of pharmacy before serving as Professor of Biochemistry and Director of Undergraduate Research at Freed-Hardeman University starting in 2021.
