How Did God Create the Whole World In Just One Week?
Question:
Dear Digger Doug, How did God create the whole world in just one week?
Answer:
Dear Kendra,
That is a terrific question. The first thing we need to remember is that God is very different from us. If we wanted to build a house, we would first have to gather all the supplies. We would need nails, wood, pipes, and hundreds of other materials. Furthermore, all those materials had to come from somewhere. Wood had to grow for many years. Someone had to get iron ore out of the ground and form it into nails. God does not need to do any of that. God is so powerful, He can simply think of what He wants to create and speak, and it is done. Psalm 33:9 says that God “spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.” The truth is, God could have created a billion worlds like ours in one second if He wanted to. He is almighty (Genesis 17:1). He only took an entire week to give humans a pattern for a seven-day week.
